The Murumbi Gallery
A couple of Sundays back, I visited the Nairobi Gallery➚ just to free myself from the monotony of routine. I must say I was more than impressed by the art collection, especially those art pieces gathered by one Joseph Murumbi.

The former V.P must have been a great lover of art to pull off such a magnanimous and important act - questing after a wide variety of Pan-African artifacts from all over the continent and preserving them for posterity.
Even the most casual stroll through the display room will evoke a feeling of understanding and deep respect for African tradition. The struggle for independence in the now 254 is also remembered and celebrated in these highly illustrative rooms.
Besides cultural pieces, the Great Murumbi amassed a giant book collection plus several paintings and postage stamps from various countries in his day. Expect to come across everything from 70's newspaper cut-outs to Maasai weaponry and vintage furniture.
If you ever find yourself with some time on your hands in the middle of Nairobi, I strongly recommend that you go and appreciate this museum. There's enough material to spend a good few hours digging through its richness, then maybe you can catch a quick drink and a snack on your way out. It's nothing to miss.
Plus, the entry fee is ridiculously low for an excursion of this quality. You definitely won't regret it. ∎
