That poor dog is alone There’s nobody he can be with He’s suffering on the street Feeling cold and owner-less He lives behind a deserted stone Among the smelly rags of filth Every human he’s blessed to meet Thinks his life is meaningless It’s long since he had a bone Having another is a distant myth He snoops and looks at people’s feet Hoping to find a pair with friendliness My heart is like a dog My heart is like that dog Loyally loving and obedient Heavily hurting but diligent
