My Heart Is Like A Dog - Part Two

My heart is like a dog Though I don’t know my breed I just want to be with you

That is my deepest need

When Daddy says ‘go to your room’ I’ll be in your wake like perfume Don’t say you want to be alone I’ll rub your feet like a pumice stone

If you don’t keep me at bay I’ll be your companion to stay When you’re moody, and mad When you’re gloomy, and sad

We’ll be together like twins From when the day begins All day long All night long I’ll always follow you around To keep you safe and sound

I’ll take you to the circus To the park, show or fair I’m yours for any purpose I’ll take you anywhere

I’ll bark and snarl And growl and gnarl At anybody who attempts To treat you with contempt

Give me that name you’ve always fancied I’ll live up to it and make you happy I’ll be your confident tender heart And you, my ultimate sweetheart

I want to bolt into a sprint And sprint like I'm Bolt At your command

Shelter me from the wint Make me strong and bold I’ll be your guard

For when I’m lonely I need someone To stroke my hair, my back, my spine And to give me a warm back scrub

Tell me stories little angel I’m a dog but I listen Make me feel better Make me happy once again
